Joe, Olivia, and I hopped in the car for a trip to Sharon Springs, NY which is this great little town in the Leatherstocking Region of New York where there is a couple (and I mean two-three max) cute shops, a FABULOUS Inn with a FABULOUS restaurant–The American Hotel, and a great little cafe–The Black Cat Cafe! That’s it. Everything but the inn closes pretty early.
About a year and a half ago Joe and I decided to check out a hotel and restaurant that we saw on Rachel Ray’s $40-a-day show. Well I’m not a huge fan of Rachel Ray’s, but her recommendation sounded good. So we thought what the hell! Cut to Joe, Olivia and I pulling into this town that looked like the town that time forgot. There was nothing but a few buildings and A LOT of old rundown resorts. It’s actually kind of spooky. If you are looking for something to check out in the region for an overnighter, be brave and check out Sharon Springs. The American Hotel which is owned by Garth and Doug is a relaxing night away. The owners are there and are very attentive. It’s great to be on a property where the owners are there to oversee your stay. It’s just really fantastic.
The craziest part of the trip was sipping a beer in the hotels garden and out walks this guy that I met at an event at the Museum. Instantly, I realize I know him, but so not sure how. I’m thinking hmmmm…Have I hooked up with him? LOL. Then I realized I met him at a lecture and he works with Sarah A.’s fiance B. How strange is that?????
