I speak, but do you hear?

I’ve taken to my blog to talk about how I feel about things, and I like that I can do that. I’ve tried to not be to political here, because for me I get very passionate about what I believe. I take it as a personal affront that others disagree with me when discussing politics. That’s my cross to bare. Over the past months as I’ve discussed Obama’s stance on gays, I’m often ignored, or people look at me and nod their heads and think that I’m mildly crazy.

I’m aware that a previous post in which I stated “Obama hates fags” was likely to turn some people off. As it should. Here’s the deal though, we need to read between the lines. If a man is willing to lie, or at least give half truths, is he really going to bring the change he has promised? I hope so. For you. For me, he has already failed.

He spoke of hope and he has given me none.  He writes of audacity and he has shown me none. Perhaps people will hear me speak and will actually hear me.  The man running for office made some very big statements about gays and his support.  He’s failed us, and I’m afraid that it’s the beginning of the end for our cause.

Read this great opinion piece:

If you don’t want to read the article let me recap it for you.  The Obama administration prepared a friend of the court brief in support of the Defense of Marriage Act or DOMA. Which as a candidate, Obama stated that he would overturn.

The argument that is often used when this subject comes up is that the President has other things to contend with — two wars, a financial crisis, hostage situations abroad, etc.  This is the first time that I have read what I’ve been trying to articulate.  It’s the last paragraph of this piece:

“The administration has had its hands full with the financial crisis, health care, Guantánamo Bay and other pressing matters. In times like these, issues like repealing the marriage act can seem like a distraction — or a political liability. But busy calendars and political expediency are no excuse for making one group of Americans wait any longer for equal rights.”
