It’s been a month, and what a crazy busy month it’s been! The quest for the perfect self for the wedding has morphed into a quest to run a real marathon some day. Right now – I’m loving running. The way it makes me feel, the runners high as it were is quite addictive. I’m not sure I’m a marathoner! Who knows…I run my first 5K next week. I wish it were a 10K, but that’s next.

Anyway, the running has been a gem for the W2…I’m officially at my first goal. I’ve lost 20lbs – give or take. If you look at where it was when I started W2 it would be 18.9 lbs, but I waited to go to my first meeting for two weeks. So there it is.

I hope I can maintain momentum during the cold months. Hopefully my running team will keep me going! Hear me ladies?

As mentioned earlier in the week -yesterday was my first official weigh-in at the W2. The first meeting you get your starting weight and you go from there.

The news was pretty good – the running, exercising, and counting the points has had the desired effect. Wait for the drum roll…

This weeks weight loss was 4 pounds!!!

Now, the first five to eight pounds come off easy, it’s that last 50 that are the bitch! There will be weeks that I stay the same, and God forbid – weeks when I gain, but like any addict you take one day at a time.

I’m not ready to say where I’m starting at, but it’s not at my heaviest. Where I’m starting is a reminder to me how easy it is to let our health slip away.

So, to all you fatty’s keep on keeping on and we can be each others “FITsperation”! Remember that the end goal is not about thin it’s about fit.

This past Sunday I went to cheer on my friends who competed as a team in the Cayuga Lake Triathlon, and was so inspired! I would love to be on a team next year. I’m not a strong swimmer, so it makes Tri’s difficult – and being on a team would make that easy. I think I need to corral my neighbors to do this with me…Sammy could swim, David could bike, and I could run. Infanger’s – what say you? At any rate yesterday has helped motivate me. off to a run now, and then tomorrow is my first weigh-in after my first W2 meeting. I hope I at least lost one damn pound!

The Waves

This is not a blog about the beach. It’s a blog about Virginia Woolf’s short novel — “The Waves.”

I recently downloaded it to my nook from a story about great Summer Reads from the Huffington Post. The books are a little heavier than the Fanny Flagg books, but I just don’t understand it yet. 10 pages in and I’m confused. What the HELL is this book about?

I will say “Role Models” by John Waters and a new book “Once Upon A River” were both excellent! But please – what is this book about? I always thought I was so well read…Alas, Virginia Woolf may be beyond my non-PhD holding self…

Back at Last

It’s not a “come back;” it’s a return! Now, nearly two years later I’m back and asking you to follow me on a journey.

In the next year my life will change dramatically – I’m planning a wedding, I want to lose 30-40 lbs, and I want to share my story.

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 23 marks the beginning. If you are interested in seeing how my story unfolds, or want to offer encouragement, or even get inspired — follow along. Today though, is still for vacation and all that entails.

The Cornea Chronicles: Recovery

I’ve been better…That said, every part of my body hurts EXCEPT the area where they opperated.

My throat feels like someone shoved a very sharp knife in and out at a rapid pace. The remnants of a breathing tube.

Everytime I retire to the restroom it feels like my urine is shards of glass. The tube for the catheter left an abbrasion upon its removal.

I’m tired and my body aches. I go this morning to have my sheid removed and to see how the cornea is doing. I’ve had no pain in the eye, and no headaches. This bodes well. If you have pain or a headache it can sometimes mean rejection.

I’ll let you know how it goes!
